Welcome to Rykneld Swimming Club (Synchronised)
The club, which started in 1972, is based at Sharley Park Leisure Centre, Market Street Clay Cross. (Tel: 01246 217277). The Chief Coach is Lauren Blunden with assistant teachers, Michelle Pearce, Emma Jevons, Hannah Montague and Rachel Ward.
Currently we have 30+ swimmers and this sport is for both boys and girls who must be able to swim at least 6 lengths of a 25metre pool.
Swimmers begin at preliminary stage 1 through to 3, then work through the figure and routine grades 1-
Every year, as well as participating in several competitions at other venues, we stage the “Crooked Spire Routines Competition” which is attended by clubs from around the country. Also there are social activities for members such as the Christmas Disco, our annual water show performances before our Christmas break.
Times of Training:
Saturday: 5:00pm to 7:00pm, this can change because of galas, see notice board or check the website.
Training takes place at Sharley Park and includes land training, for routine training land walkthroughs when required. We also have development days throughout the year where we have other coaches in different disciplines of sport visit us and give different types of training.
Equipment needed for normal training sessions include goggles, swim cap, nose clip which can be purchased from the synchro section, also a black swimming costume and towel. The nose clip is a very important piece of equipment for synchronized swimmers; it prevents water entering the nasal cavity when upside down and later causing sinus infections.
- An annual subscription of £40 is payable to Rykneld Swimming Club in January of each year
- At the beginning of every month, monthly fees of £30 are due.
